Stuck on Windows

I really, really want to ditch Windows once and for all and move to a Linux distribution but I’m locked out of my current machine’s BIOS and can’t install a new OS from a bootable drive. Technically I should be able to manually reset it but I do not trust myself to not fuck it up and brick my computer.

It’ll have to wait until I either get acess to a different machine or finally upgrade this old and barely functional laptop. I’m keeping an eye on used Thinkpads (either a T480 or a T440p) and from what I’ve seen there’s a decent enough number of them for sale where I live. Will try and snag one once my financial situation improves.
